So much has changed for me since COVID that I hardly know where to begin. I feel like I could write a book, but who has the freaking time for that? But I guess that's why we have social media, right? To share our highs and lows in snippets and snapshots, hoping to paint a picture of a life that we want to inhabit, even if it's not the most accurate representation we're willing to make.
Since I stopped teaching asana in March, I've had to find small ways to connect to my inner sense of peace and groundedness that I can incorporate into a day full of household duties. I've noticed my day goes MUCH better if I don't hit the floor moving top speed, anxious about everything that needs to be done. This morning I'm enjoying the view while sipping coffee (hot, because I haven't picked it up and put it down 47 times while puttering around) and crocheting for a charity donation project. Is it peaceful in my house? Hell no! There's a kid over my shoulder screaming the lyrics to a scene from Mary Poppins that she's been watching non stop for a month while the app on her ipad repeats everything it hears. But there's a pocket a peace inside me, fed by a hot drink, a simple act of creation, and a beautiful view. This is my yoga today. What's your yoga? How do you start your day off in calm and connection? And if you don't, why not try?
