I love a new year! I always arrive brimming with enthusiasm, inspired by new project ideas and goals. By this afternoon I had already
Right about the time I was wondering where to find a local guitar teacher, I saw myself from the outside and realized I was over-doing it. Again. The problem isn’t having goals and wanting to learn new things. The problem is that I don’t make time in all that Doing to just Be. Even my meditation practice is busy, full of mantra, visualizations, and breathing practices. I rarely take the extra time to sit and enjoy the stillness that all the mental gymnastics bring. All that being said, I’m not dropping any of my intentions, and I’m not saying you should either. But I am changing the goal of my yoga mat challenge to get on my mat for 20 minutes a day and DO JACK SHIT. For a chronic planner, sitting still instead of filling my time with distractions and busy work might just be my biggest challenge of the month. Join me if you will in the act of doing jack shit for 20 minutes a day! If you don’t have a yoga mat, use a blanket. If you don’t like laying on the floor, you can just sit upright in a comfy chair. If you like, you can follow along with my daily posts for suggested postures, relaxation techniques, and deep thoughts. Share a comment or an experience or don’t. It’s up to you. But whatever you do, give yourself the gift of quiet relaxed awareness every day in January for 20 minutes. Something about your life will surely shift.
